August 10 2010

Staff from Lincolnshire Co-operative ditched their day jobs to help tidy up outdoor areas enjoyed by hundreds of pupils at two local schools.

The society took part in the national ‘Give and Gain Day’, a day of action for employee volunteers organised by Business in the Community. Around 6,000 staff from 212 companies signed up across the UK, injecting £1 million man-hours into community projects.

Lincolnshire Co-op colleagues from areas including Food, Pharmacy, Travel and Head Office spent Give and Gain Day at Fosse Way School in Ash Grove, North Hykeham and Bishop King School in Kingsway, Lincoln.

At Fosse Way, they undertook tasks including strimming grass, clearing brambles, trimming branches and dismantling old decking. The team at Bishop King worked to extend a ‘woodland walk’ which runs through a forested area at the school.
