Own-brand treats strike gold

The Co-operative Group picked up two gold and three silver awards at the Grocer magazine’s 2010 Own Label Food and Drink Awards ceremony in London.

The scheme rates retailers’ own-brand food and drink on criteria such as taste, content, appearance, packaging, labelling, innovation and value for money. 

Gold awards went to The Co-operative Bakery Lemon Meringue Muffins in the Bakery Sweet category, and The Co-operative Smoked Haddock Fishcakes in the Fish category. 

The Group’s silver medal winners were the Truly Irresistible Parmesan, Truly Irresistible Ham, Mushroom and Mascarpone Pizza and Corolle Potatoes.
